The DAZEL Output Server provides centralized control of and unifiedaccess to printing, faxing, e-mail, paging, and storage and retrievalfunctions throughout the enterprise. We call this output management,and DAZEL handles it all. The management, control, access, and deliveryof final-form output to output destinations on the network are unifiedin a single comprehensive product. DAZEL offers an environment thatallows output management to be treated as a principal discipline ofclient/server computing. DAZEL fits within the client/serverinfrastructure by providing predictable service levels and outputrobustness traditionally associated with data center printing andmainframe subsystems, such as JES (Job Entry Subsystem - A print driverfor direct host-attached printers.) DAZEL does this through a uniqueclient/server implementation that moves management and control of theoutput resources from the client workstation where they exist today tothe server, centralizing the administration process. The DAZEL OutputServer is the core of the DAZEL product family. It provides the best ofboth worlds for managing output. MIS gains control of output resourcesby using an environment that centralizes the management and control ofoutput destinations and processes. At the same time printing, faxing,paging, and e-mail delivery of final-form output from client/serverapplications become more usable to all the enterprises end-users. TheDAZEL Output Server provides a server-centric solution that goes beyondcurrent print management and spooling technology to implement six keyoutput management services. The elements of the DAZEL Output Managementsystem are: Delivery Management - enables the distribution of final-form output to a variety of output resources Configuration Management -centralizes the configuration of printers, fax modems and paging modemsto simplify administration Privilege Management - controls who can usewhich output resources, when, and how Accounting & Inventory Management- maintains an inventory of what output resources are deployed, as wellas a complete log of all output activity by user and destination Job &Queue Management - enables control of output jobs and gives flexibilityin manipulating queues Event Management - monitors events related tojob, queue, device, and DAZEL server status DAZEL Output Server offers arobust solution to every output challenge implementing a true end-to-endoutput management environment for client/server computing that goesbeyond just print.
